Statement of Commitment

The Hunter Trade College (“the College”) is committed to the health, safety and welfare of all of its staff, students, contractors, visitors and volunteers in the workplace.

Our aim and objective is to achieve zero accidents, injuries or occupational illnesses.

The College requires its activities to comply with relevant OH&S Act 2000 and OHS Regulation 2001, standards, Codes of Practice including notification of incidents, training and provision of resources.

The Board and Executive will provide leadership, allocate resources, provide management planning and communicate OH&S decisions.

Management will develop, implement and maintain an OH&S Management System through:

  1. Developing and implementing OH&S plans, targets, policies and programs
  2. Establishing appropriate levels of responsibility and accountability for our staff consistent with their position within the College to meet our OH&S policy objective.
  3. Establishing effective and meaningful OH&S consultation
  4. Providing OH&S training
  5. Identifying and reporting of hazards and undertaking risk assessments
  6. Providing an OHS risk management process that is consistent with our College activities to identify, assess and control risks
  7. Consideration of the health and safety impacts of our business decisions including purchasing and equipment design
  8. Providing and maintaining equipment and systems of work for our staff, students, contractors, suppliers, volunteers and visitors to the College
  9. The dissemination of OHS information to all stakeholders
  10. Providing suitable injury management opportunities
  11. Promoting, maintaining and improving OH&S strategies
