Hunter Trade College award HomeWorld scholarships

Hunter Trade College today announced Kaitlyn Doolan and Bradley Hartland as the recipients of the inaugural HomeWorld Scholarship to help put them on a path to the career of their dreams.

The HomeWorld scholarships empowers students to complete their HSC while simultaneously transitioning into full-time employment in the building and construction industry.

Doolan is studying Year 12 HSC Carpentry and is currently engaged in a hosted work placement with Newtech Electrical two days a week, while Hartland is studying Year 11 HSC Electrotechnology and is a school-based trainee with Lifestyle Custom Cabinetry.

The students were selected based on outstanding performance in their work placement program, HSC and trade courses and for their high-level trade skills and knowledge.

Hunter Trade College, CEO, Ann Holcombe said: “The HomeWorld scholarship program is a wonderful example of a key player in the Hunter Valley construction industry working with the College to promote and support skilled young people”.

The HomeWorld Scholarship program was announced in September 2016, following the opening of HomeWorld Thornton, which features 43 display homes from 14 of the Hunter and New South Wales’ leading building companies, to help people discover, create and build their dream home.

HomeWorld, CEO, Phil Jones said the organisation is pleased to be able to support the local building industry in the Hunter by encouraging students to develop their career paths.

“HomeWorld has been a fixture in the Hunter community for more than 15 years and we are delighted to be able to assist the next generation where it all begins. We congratulate Kaitlyn and Bradley on their scholarships and wish them all the best in their endeavours,” said Jones.

Based in Telarah, Hunter Trade College provides young adults with the opportunity to study for the Higher School Certificate while commencing a trade qualification and accessing pathways into various trades, including building and construction.
